Welcome
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my site, looking at the nature of north-east Scotland.
I am Ken Hall, a native of Aberdeen, now retired and living in a quiet valley in rural Aberdeenshire.
Most of the images on my site were taken with a Canon 30D SLR camera. I have now upgraded to a 7D which I use with my 400mm L f/5.6 lens for bird photography. I also use a Sigma 18-125mm lens for general landscape work, and a Sigma 150mm Macro lens. Some of the earlier photos were taken using a Kyocera Contax U4R compact camera. Many of my bird photos were taken hand held, or utilising a bean bag on the car window ledge. I normally use a tripod for landscape and closeup work. For the purposes of this website, I have decided to concentrate on the area covered by Moray, Aberdeen City and Shire, and Angus.
North-east Scotland has a rich and varied landscape, from the Cairngorm Mountains, down through forest and farming country, to the North Sea coast. The wildlife is equally diverse and interesting. My main interest is in birds, but I also cover landscape, flora, fauna, and information on where to go birdwatching. For now at least, I have no plans to offer any of the photos for sale. I'm just happy to make use of any talent I may have, and share them with you. If you would like to use any of the photos in a charitable cause, please get in touch first at halls2(at)theoldbyre(dot)plus(dot)
